Courtney Ring

Academic Advisor

Courtney Ring is the Academic Advisor for the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. Her duties include working with current and prospective students to share information about the academic opportunities available, helping them stay on a four-year graduation path and providing holistic support. Her initial assignment is Emerging Media Arts majors and will be expanded in the coming months.

Originally from Lincoln, Ring received her M.S. in Academic Advising from Kansas State University. She also has a Bachelor of Performing Arts in dance from Oklahoma City University.

She has been teaching musical theatre dance technique, styles, conditioning and choreography to actors, singers and dancers for 15 years at Columbia College and Roosevelt University in Chicago and Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. Ring returned to Lincoln in 2019 after spending 20 years in Chicago as a professional dancer and instructor. She moved to Chicago on scholarship at the famed Gus Giordano Dance Center and quickly became a member of the jazz dance concert company the Joel Hall Dancers, where she remained as a senior dancer for a decade. She also danced professionally with Instruments of Movement and theMASSIVE. She also performed as a feature dancer in numerous Chicago-area musical theatre productions as a member of Actors Equity Association.
