LINCOLN, Neb.— Formed out of friendship, the Amicitia Duo brings music for clarinet to a wide variety of audiences featuring clarinetists Diane Barger (UNL’s Hixson-Lied Professor of Clarinet) and Denise Gainey (University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Associate Professor of Clarinet). The Duo will be presenting a recital at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 12 in the Westbrook Recital Hall in the Glenn Korff School of Music.

Amicitia is the Latin word for friendship and is pronounced “ah-mee-KEE-tee-ah”. With a friendship that spans over thirty years, Barger and Gainey combine their love of music and teaching to delight audiences around the world. With University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music pianist Dr. Mark Clinton, the Amicitia Duo’s recital will feature music from the Classical era (Franz Krommer’s Concerto in B-flat Major, op. 35) through the Romantic period (Felix Mendelssohn’s Concert Piece No. 2 in D minor, op. 114 and Amilcare Ponchielli’s Paolo e Virginia) and beyond with music by Mauricia Murcia Bedoya, Michael Kibbe, and Gary Schocker.

The performance is free and open to the public.
