Conductor Hal France to present MET Opera Preview Talk at Ross

Join conductor Hal France for a free talk focusing on the operas and singers featured in the upcoming Met season at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. Hal will offer sound bites and insights about the composers and their operas. The event is free and open to the public.

The 2014-15 season opens on Saturday, Oct. 11 with Anna Netrebko as Lady Macbeth and then flows with Renee Fleming as the Merry Widow, superstars Joyce DiDonato and Diego Florez in Rossini’s Donna Del Lago, Patricia Racette and Eva-Maria Westbroek as the heroines in the double bill of Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci and many great performances. Maestro James Levine will be on the podium for Mozart and Wagner.

France was the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of Opera Omaha from 1995 – 2005. He has held Music Director positions with the Orlando Philharmonic, Mobile Opera, Lake George Opera Festival and was Resident Conductor at the Houston Grand Opera 1980 - 84. He has led organizations and performed with opera companies and symphony orchestras around the United States and abroad in a conducting career that has spanned 35 years.
