calendar icon26 Mar 2013

Lincoln, Neb. – Completing the season for Theatrix, the student-operated theatre organization at the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, is the annual New Artists Festival 2013. This year NAF is comprised of three 20-minute scripts and one full-length play.

NAF offers students at the Johnny Carson School the chance to direct, perform in, design, and manage new scripts written by students. The student directors for NAF 2013 are undergraduate theater and film majors Emma Gruhl, William Fischer, Dominic Ciafolo, and Fred Drenkow. The student playwrights include Nate Ruleaux, Emily Martinez, Cory Soukup, and Ben Adams.

One design team will be in charge of intertwining the four very different plays. Undergraduate Theater major Cassie Tyrell designs scenery. Undergraduate Theater major with an emphasis in Design Technologies, Joe Shea, is acting as both the lighting and sound designer for NAF 2013. Costumes are headed by Jessie Tidball, a recently graduated Theater student with an emphasis in Performance. Props mistress and Theatrix newcomer Morgan Robertson handles all of the props used in all four shows. Theatrix also welcomes new stage managers for NAF 2013, Stephanie Kauhler and Emily Kuklinski. Second year graduate technical theater major Matt Rightmire is Theatrix’s Technical director for the 2012-2013 season.

All shows will be held in the Lab Theatre, located on the 3rd floor of the Temple Building, 12th and R streets in Lincoln, Neb. Individual show tickets are $6 via credit card (some user fees may be applied) at unltheatretickets.com or by cash or check at the door the evening of a performance (subject to availability).
