Highlighted by the musical, City of Angels, a performance in the Hixson-Lied Concert Series of the Chiara String Quartet, and the Cornhusker Marching Band Highlights Show at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music is excited to announce its Fall 2014 season.

Nearly 50 different performances will take place over the five-month period beginning in late August, including the Faculty Jazz Ensemble, back from its performance trip to the Montreux Jazz Festival, on September 16, the University of Nebraska Brass Quintet on September 29 and Cocoa and Carols on December 7.

This fall marks a new era at the Kimball Recital Hall that will make the Glenn Korff School of Music performances more much more pleasant and much more accessible going forward.

"First, we are pleased to report that UNL has made possible the re-upholstery of all seating in the Kimball Recital Hall," said UNL Glenn Korff School of Music Director Dr. John W. Richmond. "For our long-time patrons, you will know what a fabulous improvement this will be to this wonderful concert space.

"Second, we are entering into a marvelous partnership with NET to webcast some of our performances that take place in the Kimball Recital Hall and the Westbrook Recital Hall (WMB119) each week. You will see these so designated in this fall's Calendar of Events (which will be mailed out this month and noted online). This initiative is made possible through the generous support of the Glenn Korff School of Music Endowment and the Encore Circle Fund. Thus, performances of faculty and students now will be far more accessible to our patrons, alumni, family, and friends."

The Chiara String Quartet will have a single concert during the fall semester. It occurs early in the semester on September 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kimball Recital Hall. Advance tickets can be purchased from the Lied Center Box Office (402-472-4747).

The Musical, City of Angels, will take place November 14 and 16 in Kimball Recital Hall, while the Cornhusker Marching Band Highlights Concert at the Lied Center for Performing Arts will be December 16 at 7:30 p.m.
