Nettie Locke Rogers’ Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition, titled “A Transformational Bond,” runs Nov. 26-30 at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln city campus.

Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30 p.m. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.

A closing reception will be held Friday, Nov. 30 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

“A Transformational Bond” will include around 25 pieces and will include both large- and small-scale ceramic sculptures, as well as drawings done with pencil on Mylar. The sculptures range from small figurative work to part-horse, part-human figures and an armored horse installation.

Born and raised in Westport, Ct., Rogers comes from a large family of artists. Heavily influenced in art at a very young age, she knew she would continue the family tradition with a career in the arts. Rogers’ work stems from the animals in her life, her childhood and her imagination.

She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Maine College of Art with a focus in ceramics. She has taught art in Maine, New Mexico and Nebraska, and her work has been in numerous national exhibitions throughout the country.

In her artist’s statement, Rogers writes, “I tell a specific story about a world created through both drawing and sculpture. The work draws from a darkness that at times surrounded my childhood. When drawing, my imagination is continuously flowing allowing the story to constantly evolve.”

The Eisentrager-Howard Gallery is located on the first floor of Richards Hall, which is located at Stadium Drive and T streets., directly south of Memorial Stadium.
