Lincoln, Neb.--The Ross Media Arts Center and The Friends of The Ross present John Waters’ one man show “This Filthy World” live at the Rococo Theatre (140 North 13th St. in Lincoln) on Thursday, April 23 at 7 p.m.  The Ross is presenting a retrospective of 10 films directed by John Waters beginning on Friday, April 15.  More information can be found at www.theross.org.

Tickets for the live event can be purchased through the Rococo box office by phone at 402-476-4467 or online at www.rococotheatre.com. Discounted tickets available for members of The Friends of The Ross and students with a valid student ID.

John Waters’ one-man show is a “vaudeville” act that celebrates the film career and obsessional tastes of the man William Burroughs once called “The Pope of Trash.”  Focusing in on Waters’ early negative artistic influences and his fascination with true crime, exploitation films, fashion lunacy, and the extremes of the contemporary art world, this joyously devious monologue elevates all that is trashy in life into a call to arms to “filth followers” everywhere.

There will be a special reception in the Van Brunt Visitors Center (313 N. 13th St., adjacent to the Ross building) immediately following the show (approximately 9-11 p.m.). Attendees purchasing tickets for the reception (at the $100/$90 levels) will have an opportunity to greet Waters, get an autograph and/or have their pictures taken with our special guest. Refreshments will be served, and there will be a cash bar.
