UNL Faculty Jazz Ensemble to perform new, original compositions

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Faculty Jazz Ensemble presents its spring recital on Tuesday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall at the Glenn Korff School of Music.

Continuing in the group’s tradition of presenting new, original jazz compositions, the concert will feature music by members Greg Simon, Peter Bouffard and Tom Larson. In addition, the group will also play music by Chicago guitarist/composer John Moulder, NYC trumpeter/composer John McNeil, and guitarist John Scofield. The group will also be augmented on one piece by UNL jazz studies graduate students Andrew Janak, Jesse McBee and Derek Molacek. The recital is free and open to the general public. The members of the UNL Faculty Jazz Ensemble are Peter Bouffard, guitar; Dave Hall, drums; Paul Haar, saxophone; Greg Simon, trumpet; Hans Sturm, bass; Darryl White, trumpet; and Tom Larson, piano.

Comprised of the some of the nation’s finest performers and educators, the UNL Faculty Jazz Ensemble drew national attention in 2010 with their appearance on the NET Television and Glenn Korff School of Music program Jazz Cabaret, which has been viewed by millions. The program captured the versatility and creativity audiences have come to expect from the group. From unique arrangements of jazz and popular standards, to original works the UNL Faculty Jazz Ensemble present a varied and exciting program. Active as clinicians and educators the group brings its “Mobile Jazz Classroom” to schools throughout the midwest.
