Vocal Jazz Ensemble

Vocal Jazz Ensemble

Director: Dr. David von Kampen

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Vocal Jazz Ensemble is a small choir, open to all members of the University community by audition. Students are instructed in jazz style, ensemble singing, lyric delivery, solos and improvisation. The ensemble performs arrangements of standard and contemporary jazz repertoire in collaboration with a rhythm section. VJE participates in various performances both on and off-campus each semester, including appearances at regional jazz festivals.

Vocal Jazz Ensemble rehearses twice a week, on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 5:00-6:15 pm, and in weekly sectionals. Auditions occur at the beginning of each semester. Audition notices with details will be posted around Westbrook Music Building. Contact Dr. von Kampen with any questions via email (dvonkampen2@unl.edu).
