Graduate Application & Audition Process

The process of applying to and auditioning for Glenn Korff School of Music graduate programs is as follows:

1. FIRST, review your specific degree's Application Checklist for audition information and/or creative/scholarly materials required for admission. Click on the program (MM, DMA, PhD) below or in the column at the right of this page to begin to locate the information for your specific degree.

 2. NEXT, you must formally apply to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) by completing the UNL Graduate College application form (with its $50 application fee) and submitting your supporting materials. The application is available online at http://go.unl.edu/gradapp. Many “prepared creative/scholarly materials” that support your request for admission will be directly uploaded into the UNL graduate application. A list of the required materials may be accessed by clicking on one of the links to a specific degree option in the upper right-hand box on this page.) The priority application date is Friday, December 15, 2023.

For all MM & Doctoral Specializations, except MM Music Education: In order to be given priority consideration for a graduate assistantship, two deadlines must be met: (1) the graduate application deadline for all degrees (except MM Music Education) is December 15, 2023, and (2) the deadline for completion of the audition is January 27, 2024. There are 3 ways in which the audition may be completed: 1) audition in person on the Graduate Audition Day, January 27, 2024 (preferred) for most specializations except Conducting (conducting auditions will be completed by January 27, 2023); please be available the entire day of January 27, 2024, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., 2) audition at a time arranged with the Area Head (for Conducting and others), or 3) audition via video. (For more details about completing the audition and filling out the request to audition and assistantship application, please see the "Music Interviews and Auditions" section.)

For the MM Music Education Specialization: Review of applications for the Summer 2024 Graduate Music Education Fellowships will begin May 1, 2024, and will be awarded based on merit and the date by which the degree application was completed. No separate fellowship application is required; all first-time applicants are considered.
