Create, perform, achieve at the Glenn Korff School of Music

LINCOLN, Neb.— Highlighted by Mozart’s opera, Don Giovanni, two performances in the Hixson-Lied Concert Series of the Chiara String Quartet, and the Cornhusker Marching Band Highlights Show at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music is excited to announce its Fall 2015 season.  

Nearly 50 different performances will take place over the five-month period beginning in late August with the Cornhusker Marching Band Exhibition performance on Friday, August 21 and the Big Red Singers Exhibition performance on Saturday, August 22.

“We in the Glenn Korff School of Music remain deeply committed to guiding and challenging our students to reach their potential, whatever their dance- or music passions might be,” said UNL Glenn Korff School of Music Director Dr. John W. Richmond. “Our faculty is made up of so many impressive and internationally celebrated artists and scholars. They appear routinely around the world at important conferences and on prestigious world stages, but most importantly our faculty is deeply committed to our students.

“The year ahead will be another adventure in advancing our tripartite mission -- Create. Perform. Achieve.”

This fall continues the partnership with NET to webcast many of the Glenn Korff School of Music performances. Nearly 20 are scheduled for the fall semester with more individual student recitals still to be scheduled. Both of the Chiara String Quartet’s performances will take place on Friday nights in Kimball Recital Hall. The first is scheduled for September 25 with the second on October 23. Advance tickets can be purchased from the Lied Center Box Office (402-472-4747). The University of Nebraska Brass Quintet performance is October 26 in Kimball Recital Hall, the Moran Woodwind Quintet performance is November 17 in Westbrook Recital Hall while the Faculty Jazz Ensemble performs in Westbrook’s Recital Hall on November 9.

The opera, Don Giovanni, will take place November 13 and 15 in Kimball Recital Hall, while the Cornhusker Marching Band Highlights Concert at the Lied Center for Performing Arts will be December 12 at 7:30 p.m. The Student Dance Project takes place December 4 and 5 in Mabel Lee Hall.
