Theatrix presents ‘Act a Lady’ April 18-21

Lincoln, Neb.--Theatrix, UNL's student-led theatre company, presents “Act a Lady,” April 18-21 in the Lab Theatre, located on the third floor of the Temple Building at 12th and R streets.

Directed by senior Gage Boardman, performances are April 18-20 at 7:30 p.m. and April 21 at 2 p.m.

Alumni Board awards announced

Lincoln, Neb.--The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts Alumni Board has selected the recipients of its annual alumni awards. The awards will be presented on Friday, April 26 at the college’s annual Honors Day celebration. The dinner is by invitation only.

EMA students place in 48-hour entrepreneurship challenge

Lincoln, Neb.--Emerging Media Arts students Hannah Gish, Alexah Fort and Micah Fullinfaw participated in the Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship’s 48-Hour Challenge Feb. 15-17 and earned second and third place in the competition with their respective teams.

Carson School Open Studios is Dec. 8

Lincoln, Neb.--Students in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film will host an Open Studios event on Friday, Dec. 8 from 5-7 p.m. in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts.

Work from multiple classes from the fall semester will be on display from students in both the Emerging Media Arts and Theatre-Design and Technical Production programs. The event is free and open to the public.

Carson School to host world premiere reading of Kirk’s ‘A House Divided’

Lincoln, Neb.--The Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film will host the world premiere reading of “A House Divided,” a new play by Professor of Theatre Christina Kirk, on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. in the Studio Theatre. Admission is free and open to the public.

Flaherty brings interactive ‘The Dial’ to Carson Center

Peter Flaherty, a director and interactive artist whose work has shown in more than 100 international venues, including theaters, galleries and museums, will be at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts on Oct. 27. His interactive piece, “The Dial,” will be on display at the Carson Center from Oct. 27-Dec. 1.

In addition to giving workshops to emerging media arts students, Flaherty will give a public lecture at IGNITE on Friday, Oct. 27 at 12:30 p.m. in the Carson Center. The event is free and open to the public.
