UNL Symphony concert features works by Tchaikovsky, Mozart

Lincoln, Neb.--The UNL Symphony Orchestra presents “Tcheers for Tchaikovsky—and Mozart, too” on Friday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Tyler Goodrich White, ends the fall semester with a blockbuster program featuring a world premiere, one of Mozart’s most beautiful and beloved works, and Tchaikovsky’s epic Symphony No. 4.

The program opens with the world premiere of White’s orchestral work “Cataclysm.”

2 art alumni to have collaborative exhibit at Project Project

Lincoln, Neb.--Two School of Art, Art History & Design alumni will present “Just because you carry it well, doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy,” at Project Project in Omaha from Dec. 9, 2022, to Jan. 6, 2023. 

The exhibit is a collaboration between Patricia Davis (M.F.A. 2016) and Amanda Durig (M.F.A. 2020). 

An opening reception will be held on Friday, Dec. 9 from 6-10 p.m., featuring food and drink, as well as works for sale.

Theatrix presents ‘Somewhere: A Primer for the End of Days’

Lincoln, Neb.--Theatrix, the student-run theatre company in the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, presents “Somewhere: A Primer for the End of Days” by Marisela Treviño Orta Dec. 1-4.

Performances are Dec. 1-3 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Lab Theatre, which is located on the 3rd floor of the Temple Building at 12th and R streets. 

The production is directed by theatre senior Mariana Hermosillo.

Winter art sales are Dec. 9-10

Lincoln, Neb.--Get your holiday shopping done early at the winter art sales organized by students in the University of Nebraska’s School of Art, Art History & Design to sell their work. This year’s winter sales are Friday, Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Clay Club’s winter sale will take place in Richards Hall Rm. 118. The sale will feature work made by School of Art, Art History and Design graduate and undergraduate ceramics students.

Lincoln, Neb.—Welcome All Wonders: A Family Yuletide Festival of Choirs is Sunday, Dec. 4 at 3 and 7:30 p.m. in the Newman Center, located at 320 N. 16th St. in Lincoln. The concerts are free and open to the public.

Five traditional choirs from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music will combine to sing holiday favorites, traditional carols and other separate and combined works in their annual massed, surround-sound event.

Student Dance Project presents original student choreography Dec. 2-3

Lincoln, Neb.--The 19th annual Student Dance Project, directed by Associate Professor of Practice in Dance Hye-Won Hwang, will be Dec. 2-3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Temple Building’s Howell Theatre.

The annual Student Dance Project is a program of original work by student choreographers in the Glenn Korff School of Music’s dance program.
