Film editor, UNL alum Krings presents Q&A at Ross

Lincoln, Neb.--Joseph Krings, a film editor and a 1998 graduate of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, will be on campus in September to participate in the Norman A. Geske Cinema Showcase at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center and visit classes in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts.

Hub New Music to perform in Kimball Recital Hall after day-long residency

LINCOLN, Neb.— Hub New Music will cap off a one-day residency at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music with a 7:30 p.m. concert in Kimball Recital Hall on Wednesday, September 11. The performance is free and open to the public.

Cornhusker Marching Band to perform at Nebraska State Fair

LINCOLN, Neb.— The full Cornhusker Marching Band will be making an appearance at the Nebraska State Fair on Sunday, September 1 in Grand Island.

The Cornhusker Marching Band will perform sets at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30. The full band will perform parades at 1:30 and 3:30, while combined Friday Night Bands will perform at 2:30 at a Pep Rally on the CHI Health Stage.

Elliott is featured speaker at premiere IGNITE colloquium

Megan Elliott, the founding director of the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, will be the featured speaker at the premier IGNITE colloquium on Friday, Aug. 30 from 12:30-1:50 p.m. in CEMA 101. The event is free and open to the public.

IGNITE is a weekly colloquium for all Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts students, which will involve guest lectures, workshops and seminars around creative development and professional development. The colloquiums are open to the entire university community, as well as the public.

Glenn Korff School of Music celebrates 125th anniversary

LINCOLN, Neb.— This fall the Glenn Korff School of Music (GKSOM) will be celebrating its 125th year as the School of Music at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

The GKSOM will be highlighting the history of the School of Music with an anniversary celebration and public convocation on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 3:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

UNL Opera to premiere The Gambler’s Son in Cozad

UNL Opera in the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is delighted to announce the premiere of a new opera, The Gambler’s Son, by Tyler Goodrich White (composer) and Laura White (librettist).  The Gambler’s Son is adapted from Mari Sandoz’s 1960 novel, Son of the Gamblin’ Man, which tells the true story of the founding of Cozad, Nebraska, of its larger-than-life founder, John J. Cozad, and of Cozad’s son, the illustrious American painter, Robert Henri.

Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist series begins with visual, performance artist German on Sept. 4

Lincoln, Neb.--Eight artists will be presenting Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar lectures this fall in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design.

The School of Art, Art History & Design’s Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series brings notable artists, scholars and designers to Nebraska each semester to enhance the education of students.

Each lecture takes place at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15. The lectures are free and open to the public.

FRESH! Exhibition open Sept. 6 at Eisentrager-Howard Gallery

Lincoln, Neb.—The Eisentrager-Howard Gallery will open its 2019-2020 exhibition season with a show titled “FRESH!” Curated by the director of the gallery, Patricia Davis, this exhibition showcases the creative energies of 19 local School of Art, Art History & Design alumni who graduated between 2010-2019 with Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts or Master of Fine Arts degrees in studio art or graphic design.

From the Howell Theatre to the Broadway stage: Tebo earns supporting role in revival of 'Oklahoma'

Lincoln, Neb.--Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film alumnus Mitch Tebo (B.F.A. 1972) is playing the supporting role of Andrew Carnes in the revival of , now playing on Broadway and winner of this year’s Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.

“It has been great,” Tebo said. “I am part of an ensemble in a supporting role. It is the ensemble nature of this production that has been the most satisfying aspect. It is a wonderful and talented cast, many of whom I’ve worked with since the first production of the show at Bard College SummerScape in 2015.”
