Kirk named Director of Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film

Lincoln, Neb.—Christina Kirk, professor and chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance at Otterbein University, has been named the Director of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film and the Executive Director of the Nebraska Repertory Theatre. She begins her appointment on July 1, 2019.

14th annual Evenings of Dance scheduled for Carson Studio Theater

LINCOLN, Neb.— A modern dance concert, directed by University of Nebraska-Lincoln Associate Professor of Dance Susan Ourada, will take place on four consecutive days April 25-28 in the Lied Center’s Johnny Carson Studio Theater — it’s the 14th annual Evenings of Dance.

Copland, Maslanka music part of Campus Bands performance

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Campus Bands will perform a two-part concert featuring the music of Copland, De Falla, Giroux, Maslanka, Yagisawa, and many others on Thursday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The bands take the names of UNL Directors of Band Emeriti.

UNL Opera presenting Violet in Westbrook April 12 and 14

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s Opera program will present Violet on Friday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. and then again on Sunday, April 14 at 3 p.m. in Room 130 of the Westbrook Music Building. Tickets for the performance are free and open to the public, but a limited number of tickets are available.

University Singers to perform Handel’s Messiah

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University Singers will present George Friderik Handel’s seminal choral work MESSIAH at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23 at the Newman Center (320 North 16th Street). The performance is free and open to the public.

MFA Thesis Exhibitions on display through April 19

Lincoln, Neb.--Six graduating Master of Fine Arts students from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design will present their MFA Thesis Exhibitions in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall in April. The simultaneous solo shows will be on display in three rounds with a new pairing each week, April 1-19.

GKSOM student Shoemaker’s recital to be live webcast

On Saturday, April 6 at 3 p.m., graduate student Hayley Shoemaker’s performance from Kimball Recital Hall will be live webcast.
