Brass Ensembles prepare for night in Kimball

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Brass Ensembles within the Glenn Korff School of Music will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 1 in Kimball Recital Hall. This concert will span a great deal of music history, featuring something old by Heinrich Isaac and W. A. Mozart, something new with two premiere works by current UNL students Sam Babe and Alaina Blaker, and several pieces in between. This concert promises to have something for everyone.

Newcomers join U. of Nebraska Brass Quintet for performance

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska Brass Quintet will perform a variety of classic brass and stage music on their upcoming concert, which will take place Monday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

2019 Nebraska Young Artist Award winners announced

Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts has announced the winners of the 22nd annual Nebraska Young Artist Awards.

Seventy-three students from more than 40 high schools across the state have been selected to participate in the special day of activities on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

Lazzi finishes 2nd at College Improv Tournament Heartland Regionals

Lincoln, Neb.--Lazzi, a University of Nebraska–Lincoln recognized student organization that specializes in short-form improvisation, placed 2nd at the College Improv Tournament (CIT) Heartland Regionals on Feb. 9 in Kansas City, Missouri.

The CIT describes itself as “a celebration of collegiate improv disguised as a competition” on its website. It includes 12 regionals and culminates with a Nationals competition in Chicago.

Saxophone Quartets performances combined into one night

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Glenn Korff School of Music’s Saxophone Quartets performances have been combined into one night, Tuesday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Recital Hall.

It was previously scheduled for both Monday, April 8 and Tuesday, April 9.

2nd Annual Arts Advocacy Day is March 13

Lincoln, Neb.--The 2nd annual Arts Advocacy Day at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will take place on Wednesday, March 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Lied Commons at 12th and R streets. The events is free and open to students, faculty, staff and community members.

The goal of the event is to celebrate student artwork, as well as expose the univeristy community to statewide arts advocacy efforts.

Blue returns for Alumni Masters Week

Lincoln, Neb.--Last May, Anthony Blue (B.F.A. 2011) nearly missed the opportunity of a lifetime.

“I was taking a nap, woke up to check my email, and got this message asking if I could do this shoot and be there in 40 minutes,” recalled Blue, a freelance photographer and multimedia artist based in New York City. “I felt bad because I was napping and not even prepared. I had to stop at a camera place and rent some more batteries because my camera wasn’t charged.”

UNL Opera Nebraska Tour performance in Ord canceled
