University Singers named semi-finalists by The American Prize

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music’s University Singers ensemble has just been selected as a semi-finalist in the college/university division of The American Prize national non-profit competitions in the performing arts. The American Prize will be announcing finalists in the division soon.

Two Nebraska ceramics alumni selected as 2019 NCECA Emerging Artists

Lincoln, Neb.--Two ceramics alumni from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design were selected as 2019 National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) Emerging Artists.

Souto, Holz among the recipients of Nebraska Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowships

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Arts Council announced the recipients of their Individual Artist Fellowships (IAF). Six artists with ties to the School of Art, Art History & Design were among the nine artists who received IAFs.

The IAF program recognizes exemplary work by Nebraska artists. It supports originating artists in their respective fields by providing public recognition and monetary awards.

UNL Opera presenting The Tender Land on the last weekend of February

Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist series continues with papermaker Shannon Brock

Lincoln, Neb.--Papermaker and artist Shannon Brock will present the next Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Lecture on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The School of Art, Art History & Design’s Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series brings notable artists, scholars and designers to Nebraska each semester to enhance the education of students.

History of Prints class creates curatorial project on display at Sheldon

Lincoln, Neb.--Students in Hixson-Lied Professor of Art History Alison Stewart’s fall History of Prints class created a curatorial project, comparing Rozeal’s contemporary “El Oso Me Pregunto” print with a series of 17th century prints by Wenceslaus Hollar.

The project is on display through March 17 at Sheldon Museum of Art in an exhibition titled “From Lace to Chains: The Making of a Print.”

32nd Annual Juried Undergraduate Exhibition opens at Eisentrager-Howard Gallery

Lincoln, Neb.—The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall will host the “32nd Annual Juried Undergraduate Exhibition.” This year’s show is comprised of 76 works of art and design and features 47 undergraduate art students from the School of Art, Art History & Design.

It opens Monday, Feb. 4 and closes with a reception on Friday, Feb. 15 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. Awards will be announced at 6 p.m.

Woody’s research to appear in Psychology of Music, upcoming new book

Lincoln, Neb.--Robert Woody, the Steinhart Foundation Distinguished Professor of Music, Professor of Music Education and undergraduate education co-area head in the Glenn Korff School of Music, has a new research study in the journal, “Psychology of Music.”

“Psychology of Music” is a leading peer-reviewed, international academic journal that publishes papers in the field of music psychology.
