Canceled: Visiting artists Jennifer and Kevin McCoy to present screenings at Carson Center, Fiendish Plots
Updated March 12, 2020: The guest artist residency of Jennifer and Kevin McCoy, listed below, has been postponed to Fall 2020. (Date to be announced.) All events, including the film screening at the Carson Center, the film screening and exhibition at Fiendish Plots, and the residency by dancer Magda Kaczmarska scheduled for March 16-20 are canceled.

Carson School senior’s short animated film on film festival circuit

Arts Advocacy Day March 6
Lincoln, Neb.--The third annual Arts Advocacy Day at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will be held on Friday, March 6 from 5-8 p.m. at the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts at 13th and Q streets. The events are free and open to the public.
The goal of the event is to celebrate student artwork and expose the university community to statewide arts advocacy effort.
There will be an arts advocacy station, offering information on Nebraskans for the Arts and materials to help participants write letters in support of the arts to their state representatives.

We Are Nebraska interns promote inclusivity
Lincoln, Neb.--A new internship program at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln titled “We Are Nebraska” uses applied improv and applied theatre techniques to explore the personal stories with social impact of its 14 interns from across the campus and present them in a theatre experience to inspire, educate and entertain both the university community and local community.

5 Emerging Media Arts students intern with branching narrative film project
Lincoln, Neb.--Five students studying Emerging Media Arts in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts have worked as interns on a new branching narrative film project that will debut later this spring on major platform.
Non-disclosure agreements prevent details about the project from being released yet, but the project has received backing from Hollywood insiders.

Paramount Pictures Futurist Schilowitz returns for IGNITE Feb. 28
Lincoln, Neb.--Ted Schilowitz, the first-ever Futurist-in-Residence for Paramount Pictures, will present the IGNITE colloquium on Friday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts Rm. 101. The event is free and open to the public.
IGNITE is a weekly colloquium for all Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts students, which involve guest lectures, workshops and seminars around creative and professional development. The Center is located at 1300 Q St.

Theatrix continues with 'Hand to God'
Lincoln, Neb.--Theatrix, the student-run theatre company within the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, continues its 2019-2020 season with Hand to God, written by Robert Askins and directed by University of Nebraska student, Christa Retka.
Performances are February 27-29 at 7:30 PM, and March 1 at 2:00 PM. All performances take place in the Lab Theatre in the Temple Building at 12th and R Streets.

Carson Center’s Smith co-curates ‘STREAMING’ exhibition
Lincoln, Neb.--Assistant Professor of Emerging Media Arts Ash E. Smith has co-curated the exhibition “STREAMING” now on display through March 13 at the gallery@calit2 at the University of California San Diego’s Qualcomm Institute.
“STREAMING” is a research platform and exhibition that considers the ecological and social impacts of networked culture streams and the possibilities and limits for their calculation.

Nebraska Rep presents ‘A Thousand Words’
