Scholarship for Incoming Freshmen

The University of Nebraska School of Art, Art History & Design will award 2 - 3 scholarships of $1,000 to incoming freshman students who enroll as an art history, graphic design, or studio art major in the School of Art, Art History & Design at UNL.

ELIGIBILITY

Scholarships are available in art history, graphic design, and in studio art (drawing, ceramics, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture).

All high school seniors who have applied to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the 2018-2019 academic year are eligible.  Application procedures and deadlines as stipulated by the UNL Admissions office must be followed and are separate from this scholarship competition.

APPLICATION

Applications will be accepted between Nov. 15th and March 1.  The Scholarship Committee will make its decisions based on the following information:

No visual materials are required
  1. Letter of application /personal statement. The personal statement should outline an applicant’s interest and goals for their time at UNL, their influences, personal achievements and other contributions.  The letter may also include life circumstances that further demonstrate a need for the scholarship. 
  2. Letter of recommendation from applicant's art teacher, counselor, OR another teacher. The letters of recommendation should identify the artists work habits, maturity, adaptability, and artistic strengths.
  3. Transcripts of applicant's grades.
  4. Submit all materials online via the Art & Art History Scholarship Application:

RECIPIENTS

Scholarship awards will be credited toward the student's tuition and fees.  Students who are selected must enroll as an art history, graphic design, or studio art major in the College of Fine and Performing Arts to receive an award.

Such a scholarship offer is contingent upon applicant's acceptance to the University.
