Lincoln, Neb.--Theatrix, the student-run theatre company within the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will open its 2017 Spring season with "Leaving Lundso’s," a sketch comedy show written, directed, performed and produced by UNL students.

The first Theatrix production of its kind, "Leaving Lundso’s" tells myriad comedic stories through multiple sketch scenes. With six actors portraying all types of characters, from quirky hardware employees to over-protective parents, this show delves into a wide variety of relationships that will be sure to keep audiences laughing.

Theatrix’s production of "Leaving Lundso’s" is written and directed by junior theatre performance majors  Hunter Mruz and Lindsey Parodi and features performances by Riley Ford, Ricardo Gajardo, Grant Koch, Aguel Lual, Luke Morken and Madison Nichols. Sophomore directing and management major Shannon Humiston stage manages, with lighting design by senior film and new media/lighting design major Mattie McIntosh.

"Leaving Lundso’s" will be complemented by performances from Panem y Cirqúe, a physical comedy troupe led by junior theatre performance major Nico Russell. With performances interspersed throughout the sketch comedy show, Panem y Cirqúe is a show that derives from the traditions of commedia dell’Arte and utilizes clowning, mime and other classical forms of comedy to tell a carnival troupe's day-in-the-life story under the big top.

With direction from Nico Russell, Panem y Cirqúe features the additional talents of Michael Barth, Simon Gissler, Austin Potter and Taylor Winks.

Performances are Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 and 10 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 and 4 p.m. All performances take place in the Lab Theatre in the Temple Building at 12th and R Streets. "Leaving Lundso’s" may contain mature language and themes that may not be suitable for all audiences.

Tickets may be purchased for $7 online by visiting www.unltheatretickets.com or at the door one hour prior to performance in the Lab Theatre’s third floor lobby (cash only; seats subject to availability).
