Lincoln, Neb.--As of July 1, 2015, UNL students are admitted to all screenings and events sponsored by The Ross at any time of the day or night at the price of $5 (with student ID).  Effective immediately, students from Nebraska Wesleyan, Union College, and Southeast Community College will be admitted at the same $5 price (with student ID).

This special offer includes admission to the MET Opera Live in HD and the London National Theatre Live broadcasts.  Student admission is normally $7 for evening screenings, $6 for matinees (any screening before 6 p.m.), and $17 for the MET Opera and National Theatre broadcasts.

This and other changes and upgrades already completed, planned, or in process have been made possible by a generous gift from the estate of Mary Riepma Ross establishing what will eventually be a $9.5M endowment at the University Foundation earmarked for The Ross.

According to Danny Lee Ladely, Director of The Ross, “One of our main goals for The Ross is to fill the seats with as many students as possible.  To that end, we offer many student oriented events like Student Appreciation Night, scheduled once each month throughout the academic year, when students are admitted for $1 and offered $1 popcorn and beverages.  We often schedule, in collaboration with major Hollywood studios, sneak previews of major motion pictures before they open in theaters just for students.  For example, on Thursday March 31 we are showing The Huntsman Winter’s War.  More information is available on our website at www.theross.org.”

This program is being presented with the support of the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
