The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s annual Chamber Music Institute will take place June 9-16. Seven UNL faculty are joined this summer by four faculty guests - the Escher String Quartet.

This year, thirty-three talented fellows will enjoy a week of intense music making, including coaching, master classes, and workshops on developing entrepreneurship. Fellows are currently undergraduate and graduate students at conservatories and university across the United States and receive free tuition and room and board for the week. This year’s fellows include four pre-formed and four assembled groups, both wind and strings, plus four talented composers.

"It is amazing how talented these young musicians are, and how much they accomplish in an incredibly short amount of time here at UNL,” said CMI Director and UNL Larson Professor of Flute, Dr. John Bailey. “The faculty is looking forward to working with them. We hope that their experience here will make them consider UNL for advanced work in the future. We are very proud of our faculty and our facilities.”

At 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 14 in Kimball Recital Hall, four world premieres of new works will be offered in a concert that is free and open to the public. The final concert of the Institute will showcase all eight groups at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 16 in Kimball Recital Hall. Admission to this event is also free and open to the public.
