LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chamber Singers will be presenting a concert in the Sheldon Museum of Art Great Hall on October 27 at 3 p.m. as the first performance of their 2013-2014 Sheldon Concert Series.
"The beauty and resounding power of the Sheldon Great Hall creates a wonderful atmosphere to experience this concert of ‘sounding art’,” said Director Therees Hibbard.
"Sing A New Song! " will feature songs of old, such as the Bach motet, SINGET DEM HERRN EIN NEUES LIED [Sing to the Lord a New Song]; and Sweelinck's CANTATE DOMINO [Sing to the Lord] in the new and unique setting of the Great Hall performance space. They will also sing more modern songs such as Walton's A LITANY; an arrangement by Craig Hella Johnson, director of the professional Chamber Choir, Conspirare, of a Dolly Parton song LIGHT OF A CLEAR BLUE MORNING; as well as Argento's I’LL SING WITH MY VOICE connecting old and new songs with this theme.
The concert is free and open to the public.
