Theatrix kicks off season with 'Time Stands Still'
Lincoln, Neb.--Theatrix, a student-run theatre company within the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, will kick off its 2014-2015 season with the play Time Stands Still by Donald Margulies. Emma Gruhl, an undergraduate Theatre Directing and Management major, will direct. Performances are October 22, 23, and 24 at 7:30 p.m. and October 26 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lab Theatre, third floor of the Temple Building at 12th & R Streets. There will be no performance on Saturday, October 25 due to a home football game. Tickets are a flat rate of $6.View Article

Property Master Dennis Parrish to visit Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film
Lincoln, Neb.--Hollywood Property Master Dennis Parrish will be visiting the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film on Friday, Sept. 26. He will present an open forum for faculty, students and staff from 1:30-3 p.m. in the Temple Building Rms. 204-205.Parrish is one of the most prolific property masters in the film industry over the past 50 years. He has 65 feature films to his credit since 1962.

Two UNL Carson School Faculty receive Silver Screen Award
UNL Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film Associate Professor of Film Rick Endacott and Assistant Professor of Film Steve Kolbe's instructional video "StageCraft: Building Flats and Platforms" has won a Silver Screen Award from the U.S. International Film and Video Festival.

Nebraska Repertory Theatre Opens 47th Season
The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, the professional theatre of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, opens its 47th season, July 10, 2014 with the Christopher Durang comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. It plays in rotation with Annie Baker’s Circle Mirror Transformation (opening July 17) and Paul Slade Smith’s Unnecessary Farce (opening July 23).

UNL to receive award from the Educational Theatre Association
UNL has earned a Standing Ovation Award from the Educational Theatre Association.
The award will be presented to Paul Steger, director of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, June 28 during the International Thespian Festival's Saturday showcase.

Two Carson School students receive television academy internships
Two students from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film have received prestigious internships this summer from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation.
Ethan Seagren, of Elkhorn, Neb., will be working at Stargate Studios in Pasadena, Calif., in visual effects. Seagren graduated in May.
Stargate is a production company offering visual effects and production services to the film and television industry. Their credits include “The Walking Dead,” “Heroes,” “Mob City,” “Pan Am” and “24.”

NRT’s Virginia Smith Announces Final Season as Artistic Director
Nebraska Repertory Theatre (NRT) Artistic Director, Virginia Smith, has announced that after a decade of service to NRT, 2014 will be her last season as Artistic Director. Smith said, “I have often said that my role at NRT is the best job in Nebraska for a theatre artist. With ten years at the helm of the Rep, I feel I’ve accomplished my goals and it’s time to move on to new challenges.”

Several from Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts win Mayor's Arts Awards
Several people from UNL were among the winners of the 2014 Mayor's Arts Awards announced March 12 by Mayor Chris Beutler and the Lincoln Arts Council. The awards formally recognize artistic contributions and achievements in the Lincoln area and will be presented the evening of May 28 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.
