Lincoln, Neb.—The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra will perform their season finale “Beethoven’s ‘Eroica’” on Friday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Symphony Orchestra is under the direction of Glenn Korff School of Music Professor of Composition and Conducting and Director of Orchestras Tyler White. Ramón Araújo, Kate Mathews and Manuel Monge-Mata are the graduate associate conductors.

In addition to Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55 “Eroica,” the program also includes Richard Wagner’s “Lohengrin:” Prelude to Act III and Edvard Grieg’s “Symphonic Dances, Op. 64.”

The Eroica symphony is one of Beethoven’s most celebrated works.

“Beethoven’s 'Eroica'—the ‘Heroic Symphony’—is one of this most important composer’s mightiest and greatest works, a symphony that has had enormous impact and influence throughout the world over the past two centuries and more," White said. "Performing this monument represents a huge and exhilarating accomplishment for the students of the UNL Symphony, one that the UNL and Lincoln communities will not want to miss."
