Artist Cordova to present Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture Sept. 6
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design’s Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series brings notable artists, scholars and designers to Nebraska each semester to enhance the education of students.
The next lecture in the series will be presented by artist William Cordova on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15. Cordova’s lecture is free and open to the public.

New course explores computational creativity
Lincoln, Neb.—University of Nebraska–Lincoln School of Art, Art History & Design Associate Professor of Art Elizabeth Ingraham is teaching an online course this fall titled Computational Creativity that aims to help students develop both creative and computational thinking skills to help with problem solving in any discipline.

Second-year MFA students display work in exhibition at Eisentrager-Howard Gallery
Lincoln, Neb.—“Flux,” an exhibition featuring the work of 2nd year Master of Fine Arts students in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design, is on display now through Sept. 15 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.
A reception will be held on First Friday, Sept. 1 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery.
The seven students participating in the exhibition are Scott Cochran, Kat Cox, Lindsey Day, Nicholas Sheldon, Iren Tete, Mallory Trecaso and Erik White, all of whom are in the second year of their graduate program.

Hixson-Lied Visiting Artists Series begins Aug. 30 with sculptor Kuksi
Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design’s Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series brings notable artists, scholars and designers to Nebraska each semester to enhance the education of students.
Opening the series is a lecture by Sculptor Kris Kuksi on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15. Kuksi’s lecture is free and open to the public.

Fiske Guide tabs Nebraska as 'Best Buy' university
Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has been designated a "Best Buy" in the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2018.
Nebraska is one of just 20 public colleges and universities to receive the designation, which is earned through academic quality and affordability. Eighteen private institutions were also named to this year's list.
The Fiske Guide, founded in 1982 by Edward Fiske, a former New York Times education editor, is a highly respected, comprehensive guide to more than 300 colleges and universities.

Derr seeks participants for video project for Nebraska's 150th Celebration
Lincoln, Neb.--Have you ever wanted to kiss the sky? On July 21, Artist, Professor, and Director of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design Robert Ladislas Derr invites you to kiss the sky as he records with video and photography at the Cube in the West Haymarket. An official event of the Cube Art Project and The Nebraska 150 Celebration, Derr will film and photograph the corresponding number of kisses.

School of Art, Art History & Design presents Nebraska Touring exhibition
Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design presents “Nebraska Touring,” a traveling exhibition of undergraduate and graduate works of art, art history research and design to the Warren Opera House in Friend in June, the Prairie Arts Center in North Platte in July and Studio K in Grand Island in August.
The schedule is as follows:

Fischer, Hawley perform in Zimbabwe for arts festival
Lincoln, Neb.--Research Associate Professor of Violin Rebecca Fischer and her husband, Anthony Hawley, a Lecturer in the School of Art, Art History & Design, performed and participated in the Hirare International Arts Festival (HIFA) in Zimbabwe, Africa, in May.
Fischer and Hawley received a grant from the Hixson-Lied Endowment to fund their travel to HIFA.
“It made it possible for us to do it,” Fischer said.

Alumni Exhibition on display this summer in Eisentrager-Howard Gallery
Lincoln, Neb.--Alumni from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design will show their work this summer in the exhibition “Nebraska Alumni Artists 1979-1982” in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.
The exhibition opened May 22 and continues through Aug. 4 in the gallery, which is located on the first floor of Richards Hall. Visitors can stop by Rm. 120 of Richards Hall Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for access to the gallery.
