Cornhusker Marching Band Exhibition is Aug. 18
Lincoln, Neb.--The Cornhusker Marching Band will hold its annual exhibition concert on Friday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. in Memorial Stadium. The event is free and open to the public.
Fans attending the exhibition should enter Memorial Stadium through Gate 3 (southwest entrance) and Gate 11 (northwest entrance). The gates will open at 6 p.m.

Learn to play the piano through Community Piano Experience
Lincoln, Neb.—Have you always wanted to play the piano? Or have you forgotten how to play piano since you were a child? Join Lincoln’s Community Piano Experience (CPE), a group piano class offered as an outreach of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music piano pedagogy program.
This program offers group piano classes that center on helping students develop basic music reading and piano-playing skills. Designed specifically for adults, this program offers classes at beginning and intermediate levels.

White a finalist for The American Prize
Lincoln, Neb.--Tyler White, professor of composition and director of orchestras in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music, is one of 17 finalists for The American Prize in the division of Composers (opera/theater/film/dance-professional division) for his opera “The Gambler’s Son.” Winners will be announced later this year.

Lied Center Piano Academy student performances are July 21
Lincoln, Neb.--The Lied Center for Performing Arts is hosting the fifth annual Lied Center Piano Academy July 17-21, led by Marguerite Scribante Professor of Piano Paul Barnes, who serves as artistic director.
The academy is designed for students entering grades 9 through their first year of college and is tailored to serious intermediate and advanced students interested in gaining professional-level instruction and guidance to raise their performance level and understanding of piano music.

Korff School student completes ‘Composing in the Wilderness’
Trevor Frost, a second-year D.M.A. student in wind band conducting with a related area in composition, was one of six composers selected for the “Composing in the Wilderness” program in Alaska in June. During his adventure, he experienced 10 days in the inspiring backcountry of Lake Clark National Park and will now compose a new band work to be performed around the country.
