McMullen to present works by British composers
Dr. William McMullen, oboe, and Catherine Herbener, piano, will be presenting a recital of four works for oboe and piano by British composers from the Baroque era to the modern time at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21 in Kimball Recital Hall.

Gilbert finds her place in musical theatre
Angela Gilbert’s life as a vocal performance major is pretty crazy. UNL's 'Candide' wins 1st place in division in National Opera Association Competition
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music and Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film’s collaborative, large-scale musical production, “Candide” was awarded first prize in Division IV of the 2012-2013 Opera Production Competition sponsored by the National Opera Association (NOA).

'Memphis' cast members hold master class with dance students
Lessons learned performing in a Broadway musical were the featured attraction in a UNL dance classroom on Nov. 13.
Two cast members from the Tony award-winning musical "Memphis" led a master class with UNL students in Intermediate-Advanced Modern Dance. During the two hour long session, "Memphis" cast members Jonathan Ragsdale and Jonas Shumpert taught the students two dance combinations pulled straight from the rigorous choreography used in the musical.
"Memphis" played in two performances at the Lied Center for Performing Arts on Nov. 12-13.

Chiara String Quartet returns to the Kimball stage tonight
On Thursday, November 14 at 7:30pm the Chiara String Quartet will be performing the second concert of their Hixson-Lied Concert Series at Kimball Recital Hall (11th and R Streets). The program will finish their cycle of Bela Bartók’s String Quartets with Nos. 2, 4, and 6. The first concert of the series on October 14 featured Quartets No. 1, 3, and 5. In Spring 2014, the series will continue on Tuesday, February 4, and Thursday, March 20.

Moran Woodwind Quintet recital is Nov. 17
The Moran Woodwind Quintet performs three works for quintet at 3 p.m. Nov. 17 in Kimball Hall. Tickets are $5 general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens.The Moran Woodwind Quintet is the resident faculty woodwind quintet of UNL's Glenn Korff School of Music. Members include Jeffrey McCray, bassoon; Diane Barger, clarinet; John Bailey, flute; Alan Mattingly, horn; and William McMullen, oboe. The group was formed in 1986 and is named for the late John Moran, director of the UNL School of Music.

Moran Woodwind Quintet upcoming program includes Mozart
The Moran Woodwind Quintet performs three works for quintet at 3 p.m. on November 17 in the Kimball Recital Hall as part of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music.
“Our fall concert has three very contrasting works—one transcription of a classic, one with jazz and salsa influence, and one very intense modern work. The Moran Woodwind Quintet is excited to share these in concert,” Bailey said.
