Added date for Campus Orchestra performance in Spring 2019
LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music has added a Campus Orchestra performance to the Spring 2019 schedule. The performance will take place on Thursday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets are $5 general admission and $3 for students/seniors.

Marks to present ‘American Organ Symphonies’
LINCOLN, Neb.— The Christopher Marks organ performance on Sunday, September 23 at 4 p.m. at First-Plymouth Church (2000 D Street) presents two major organ symphonies by American composers—the second symphony of Edward Shippen Barnes (1887-1958) and the landmark Symphony in G by Leo Sowerby (1895-1968).

Johnny Manhattan Orchestra opens its season Sept. 14
Lincoln, Neb.--The Johnny Manhattan Orchestra opens its season on Friday, Sept. 14. The orchestra was founded in 2016 to celebrate the great music of the Swing Era and to support the Glenn Korff School of Music's Jazz Studies program. This year’s Johnny Manhattan Orchestra includes 10 jazz studies students (5 doctoral students and 5 undergrads), six professional instrumental musicians and three professional vocalists.

Guest Artist Chapman presents new works for drumset and electronics
LINCOLN, Neb.— Renowned percussionist, drummer, composer, and filmmaker Evan Chapman will present a recital of new works for drumset and electronics on Wednesday, September 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The guest artist’s program includes works commissioned by Chapman from composers including Anna Meadors, Robert Honstein, Ian Chang, Molly Joyce, Alicia Walter, Alexis Lamb, Molly Joyce, and Edward Babcock. It’s free and open to the public.

Horn alumnus Cohen returns for recital Sept. 5
Lincoln, Neb.--Steven Cohen (B.A. 2014; M.M. 2015) returns to Lincoln for a recital on Sept. 5 that will feature works from his debut album, “Cruise Control” on the Siegfried’s Call Artist Label. The recital is at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall and is free and open to the public.
“Cruise Control” was released at the 50th International Horn Symposium in August and is available on all major streaming services. The album features horn music from five emerging American composers.

BRS exhibition show coming up next week
LINCOLN, Neb.— The Big Red Singers will make its debut in Kimball Recital Hall by performing select titles of recent Nebraska Show Choir Camp songs on Saturday, August 18 at 7:30 p.m.
The exhibition is a high-energy performance of singing and expert choreography that will conclude a week of rehearsals. The concert is free and open to the public, but patrons are advised to come early to get the best seats. It’s always a performance to remember!
