Glenn Korff School of Music awards announced at annual Honors Convocation

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Glenn Korff School of Music hosted its annual Honors Convocation on Thursday afternoon, April 26 in the Westbrook Recital Hall. The awards and honors that were announced included:

Dean's Award for Academic Excellence (for the highest-grade point average of any graduating senior in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts in 2017) went this year to a music student - Anna Lee.

University Honors Program graduating seniors are:

Lauren Bydalek, Paige DeDecker, Laura Linder, Joseph Klinck, Nicole Shively

LINCOLN, Neb.— The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Tyler Goodrich White, presents the final concert of its 2017-2018 season, titled “Journeys in the Imagination,” featuring music by Philip Glass and Ralph Vaughan Williams on Sunday, April 29 at 3 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.

Come enjoy ‘In the room where it happens’

LINCOLN, Neb.— The 18th annual spring Musical Theatre Showcase will take place on Friday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall.

IN THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENS is fast-paced look inside an audition room where sixteen young performers are auditioning in hopes of booking a job to perform on the stage. The stage manager tries to keep them in line, but her best efforts sometimes fail as the young artists have unique ideas of how to get the director’s attention!

Nebraska Steel prepares for debut performance

Lincoln, Neb.--Warm rhythms of the Caribbean are aligning with robin song and daffodil blooms to sweep away remnants of winter chill at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

Launched in January by the Glenn Korff School of Music, Nebraska Steel — the university’s first student ensemble dedicated to playing steel drum music — debuts April 24. The ensemble, led by Dave Hall, assistant professor of percussion, includes 22 Huskers grooving on four styles of pans and other percussion instruments to drive the distinctive, laid-back beat of steel drum music.

ChamberFest, Honors ChamberFest Concerts coming at end of April

Reception to honor Chiara String Quartet following Friday performance

LINCOLN, Neb.— Groups formed at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music perform at ChamberFest and Honors ChamberFest performances during the last week of April. All of the performances are free and open to the public. It’s all part of the UNL Chamber Music program.

ChamberFest takes place on Wednesday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Recital Hall.
