Lincoln, Neb.—Six graphic design students in the School of Art, Art History & Design received Creative Nebraska Awards from the American Advertising Federation’s Nebraska chapter for their outstanding creative work. The awards, also known as ADDYs, come in gold and silver.

The awards recognize two divisions:  practicing professionals and students. Entries are submitted to the local chapter, where they are scored by a panel of judges.

The Creative Nebraska Awards are the first step in gaining entry to the national AAF competition. Gold awards are automatically submitted to the district competition; silver awards are also eligible. District winners move on to the national competition.

School of Art, Art History & Design students won 15 Addy Awards and one Judges Citation.

“The students competed alongside the College of Journalism, which received two awards, and the University of Nebraska at Kearney, whose single campaign was entered in multiple categories and earned wins,” said Jen Landis, assistant professor of practice in graphic design.

The entries will now move on to the regional competition and compete against students from Kansas, Missouri and Iowa. Winners of the regional competition move on to the national competition.

Funds raised by the student RSO Design Club paid for the entry fees and tickets to the award show.

Clare Clark, a senior graphic design major from Lincoln, Nebraska, received seven awards at the competition.

“I was honored to receive seven ADDY Awards across five projects from the past year, each recognized for creative excellence in design and advertising,” she said. “To be acknowledged among such a talented community of advertising professionals is truly an honor. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has guided and challenged me over the past four years.”
