Mary Ball is the Costume Manager at the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. She received her M.F.A. in theatrical costume design from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where she discovered her love for managing a costume shop. During her time there, she found great reward in working with students, helping them uncover their own passions and master essential construction techniques. She received her B.F.A. in theatre design and technology with a specialization in costumes from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
Ball served as the Costume Shop Manager at the University of Mississippi, where she managed daily operations, oversaw costume construction, and provided instruction in alterations, draping, patterning, and construction. She has mentored both graduate and undergraduate students, guiding them in their development and fostering a supportive learning environment.
In addition to her role at the University of Mississippi, Ball has worked at Central Michigan University as a Costume Shop Manager, where she was responsible for overseeing costume construction and mentoring students from various departments. She has also held positions at the McLeod Summer Playhouse and the New London Barn Playhouse, gaining valuable experience in costume construction and wardrobe supervision.
