LINCOLN, Neb.— Flyover New Music’s opening night of the 2019-2020 concert season is SHOUT, a celebration of the rich variety of voices within the Glenn Korff School of Music’s composition department on Tuesday, October 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Recital Hall.

Now in its third season, Flyover New Music seeks to deepen our connections to the beauty of diversity with the season’s theme of Many Voices. The program for SHOUT travels the gamut of inspirational sources; some compositional voices express themselves in music for its own sake, while some are expressing stories about people in their lives or envisioned landscapes. Still others take inspiration from psychological perspectives. These works represent a unique range of instrumental combinations and sizes, from solo hammered dulcimer to steelpans and from solos and duets to a jazz combo.

The Flyover New Music Series, aka Flyover New Music, is the new music series from the composition studio at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music. Since its founding in 2017, Flyover has presented over 60 new pieces by student composers in the Glenn Korff School of Music, featuring over 40 composers and 130 volunteer performers.

This performance is free and open to the public. It will also be live webcast: https://arts.unl.edu/music/webcasts
