Portrait of Rebekah Hoke Brown

Rebekah Hoke Brown received her bachelor's degree in art history from Brigham Young University with a minor in Scandinavian Studies and her master’s degree in art history from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Rebekah has worked in several museums in Texas, Utah, and Denmark, and most recently at Sheldon Museum of Art in Lincoln.

More a historian than an artist, Rebekah is most captivated by what art can reveal about the ideas and events that influenced artists of the past, their audience, and their patrons. Rebekah’s master’s thesis discusses American Gilded Age portraits by the Swedish artist, Anders Zorn. She currently is an adjunct lecturer in the School of Art, Art History & Design and specializes in Trans-Atlantic American and European 19th - 20th century art history, particularly the Gilded Age, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, and beyond.
