Danielle Dewees designs her passion for 4-H
Danielle Dewees, a junior from Nelson, Neb., was involved with 4-H while growing up. When she visited the University of Nebraska–Lincoln as a prospective school, she asked if there were any opportunities to work in the 4-H department.
Since then, Dewees has been able to use her major in studio art with an emphasis in graphic design to help develop manuals made for 4-H that will be distributed across the nation.
Dewees discovered her love of art through her family, who are also artists.

Music student combines piano with pre-dentistry
Lauren Albin, a junior from Norfolk, Neb., began playing piano when she was in second grade. She admits that what kept her practicing was her mom.
“Piano is something that I did have a natural ability, but it wasn’t that I could play without practicing,” Albin said. “There is that natural ability to come with dedication.”
Albin, a double major in pre-dentistry and piano performance, said she chose her music major to help challenge her piano skills and continue on with her passion for music.

Film junior creates music videos for The Lonely Biscuits
An agreement between high school friends led to an experience of a lifetime for Dylan Adams, a junior from Omaha.
For the past couple of years, Adams, a film and new media major, has shot music videos for the band The Lonely Biscuits while being in school at the same time.

Katz receives Smithsonian Senior Fellowship
University of Nebraska–Lincoln Associate Professor of Art History Wendy Katz has received a 2013 Smithsonian Senior Fellowship. She will conduct research in Washington, D.C., from January to April 2014.
These fellowships are offered by the Smithsonian Institution to provide opportunities for senior investigators to conduct research in association with staff members at the Smithsonian Museums.

Sullivan named Presser Undergraduate Scholar
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln School of Music has announced that Nathaniel Sullivan, a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance senior from Bettendorf, Iowa, has been selected by the faculty as the Presser Undergraduate Scholar for 2013. The announcement was made in the School of Music’s Convocation on April 25.
The award comes from the Presser Foundation in Haverford, Penn. The Foundation specifies that the award be given to an outstanding music major and is intended to be a prestigious award recognizing excellence.

BFA/BA capstone exhibition opens April 29
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Department of Art and Art History presents the work of this semester's graduating seniors in the "BA/BFA Capstone Exhibition" April 29-May 3 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.
A closing reception will be held on Friday, May 3 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

Preparation and balance propels saxophonist
Nick May, a freshman from Lincoln, started playing the saxophone for two reasons: Lisa from “The Simpsons,” one of May’s favorite TV shows, played the saxophone, and he could play it himself.
“I also wanted to do French horn and trumpet, but I couldn’t buzz,” May said. “(Playing the saxophone) was easy; I could be loud and makes squeaks. I’m happy.”

Clay Club and Print Group hold spring sales
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Clay Club and the Lincoln Print Group will hold their annual Spring Sales and Raffles on April 26-27 in Richards Hall Rm. 118 and 121 respectively on the UNL city campus.
Hours for the sales are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 26 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.

Martinez takes on theatre double-major and more
Emily Martinez, a senior from Ralston, knew she wanted to learn everything she could about the theatre after her first semester of classes.
She came to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln as an undeclared major. At the time she was debating between elementary education and theatre.
