Individual tickets on sale Aug. 9 for Nebraska Rep's 50th anniversary year season

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Nebraska’s Actors’ Equity Association professional regional theatre, begins selling individual tickets for its 50th Anniversary year season on Thursday, August 9 at 11:00 a.m.

Individual production tickets are available by contacting the Lied Center Ticket Office at 402.472.4747 or 800.432.3231 or at the ticket office window at 301 North 12th Street Lincoln NE between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Korff School alumna to make West End debut in September

Lincoln, Neb.--Glenn Korff School of Music alumna Jaimie Pruden (B.A. Music 2013) has been cast in Stephen Sondheim’s “Company” at the Gielgud Theatre in London’s West End. The show opens for previews on Sept. 26.

The cast also includes Rosalie Craig, Patti LuPone and Alex Gaumond, and the production is directed by Marianne Elliott.

Korff Kast, a podcast from the GKSOM, makes its debut

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music has launched its own podcast – Korff Kast. What will you be getting from Korff Kast?

“We hope to provide you with a never-ending supply of stories about the Glenn Korff School of Music,” said Brian Reetz, who is the Marketing and Public Relations Associate for the Glenn Korff School of Music and host of Korff Kast. “From interviews with faculty, students, alumni and others that tell about the amazing happenings in the arts quad on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.”

Exhibition performance coming up for Cornhusker Marching Band

LINCOLN, Neb.— The Cornhusker Marching Band’s annual exhibition performance will take place Friday, August 17 at 7 p.m. in Memorial Stadium on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.

You'll see highlights of what the Cornhusker Marching Band has been working on during their pre-season Band Camp, including the famous "drill down," a preview of the first halftime show and hear many more Husker favorites.

Students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the Hixson-Lied College are invited to our Welcome Back Picnic on Friday, Aug. 17 from noon-2 p.m. in the green space just south of Woods Art Building.

There will be food and beverages provided, along with entertainment and information for students on arts-specific Recognized Student Organizations (RSO's). Nierman named Associate Director; Mattingly named Assistant Director at GKSOM

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Director Sergio H. Ruiz has named Dr. Glenn E. Nierman, Professor of Music Education and Glenn Korff Professor of Music, as Associate Director of the Glenn Korff School of Music and Dr. Alan F. Mattingly, Professor of Horn, as Assistant Director of the Glenn Korff School of Music. Nierman began his new role on June 1 while Mattingly will begin his new role on August 15.

Roe’s next opportunity: Bandsman with the Air Force

After recently completing his DMA degree, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music graduate Mike Roe will soon be off on another great opportunity.

Earlier this year, Roe was made aware of an audition for a drummer/percussionist position with the Air Force Band of the Golden West. After submitting some prescreening recordings, Roe was selected as one of twelve people to attend the live audition on June 4 at Travis Air Force Base in California. At the end of the day, he was offered a job as a bandsman in the Air Force.

Doctoral student, Runkun Li, completes Jazz Tour of China

Someone like Glenn Korff School of Music Doctoral student Runkun Li is rare in his home country of China. And what he did recently is also a testament to it -- completing a two-week Jazz Tour of China.

“I am one of the rare China-born Chinese who are approaching the Doctoral degree in Jazz Studies,” Li said of his major at the University of Nebraska. “So, my people give me a lot of credit. Jazz is really new to the Chinese. However, the jazz market is growing fast, especially in big cities in China.”

Zhang wins International Competition

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music DMA student Michelle Yin Zhang was recently selected as one of the winners in the International Maestro Piano and Strings Competition.

Zhang submitted her recording of Ravel’s Ondine and will perform that great work on July 20 in Carnegie Hall. There were two other winners in her category, one from Maryland and the other from New York.
