The Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts will create opportunities for students to connect with professionals and leaders in the field while still in school in order to build on classroom learning and grow their professional networks. It will do so through hosting international conferences, symposiums and master classes, and through internship opportunities that facilitate connections with internal and external partners.
If you or your company is interested in partnering with the Carson Center, please contact Director Megan Elliott.
Carson Center announces partnership with AMD
The Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts will be a beta test site for AMD’s new processors and SSG graphics. AMD manufactures GPU (graphics processing units), which are the foundational units for both virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
The partnership was announced in May 2017 following Roy Taylor’s presentation at the Carson Conversations Forum on campus.
“AMD is proud to be supporting the Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts because, to us, the lines between imagination and invention are indistinguishable,” Taylor said. “Our experience of working with the teams at Carson has demonstrated that they share the same passion for exploring new technologies and techniques in storytelling. The energy and creativity from both the students and faculty acts as an inspiration to the engineers and creators at AMD.”
Carson Center Director Megan Elliott is pleased to have AMD on board.“It is very exciting for the Carson Center to begin these corporate partnerships, which will enable us to be on the cutting edge of new technology,” she said.
