Creative technologist McMillian to speak at IGNITE March 12
Lincoln, Neb.--New media artist and creative technologist LaJuné McMillian will speak at the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts’ IGNITE colloquium on Friday, March 12.
IGNITE begins at 12:30 p.m. CT via Zoom. It is a colloquium for all Carson Center students, which involves guest lectures, workshops and seminars around creative and professional development. The event is free and open to the public and accessible at https://go.unl.edu/ignitespring.

Carson Center’s Twomey receives NSF grant for Augmented Reality research
Lincoln, Neb.—Robert Twomey, assistant professor of emerging media arts at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, has received a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant as co-principal investigator on a $750,000 project titled “An Embodied, Augmented Reality Coding Platform for Pair Programming.”

Emerging Media Arts student organizing online concert event
Lincoln, Neb.--Sydney Peters, a sophomore emerging media arts student in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, is organizing an online music event on Jan. 26, 2021.
The Citrusfest is a live, online experience event that will showcase undiscovered musical talent from across the country, in front of an online audience of fans, record labels, producers and leaders in the entertainment industry, to help kickstart an artist’s career. The event will take place between 7-9 p.m. CT.

Gold Series No. 3 is a performance series that includes a virtual gathering and dance event on Dec. 4 at 9pm CT and Dec. 5 at 7pm CT on a live stream via YouTube and Zoom.

HDR, Inc. receives architecture award for Carson Center
Lincoln, Neb.--HDR, Inc. received the AIA Nebraska Architecture Merit Award for their design of the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts.
AIA Nebraska, a chapter of the American Institute of Architects, announced their 2020 Excellence in Design Award winners on Nov. 9. Nine Honor Awards and 1 Merit Award were presented from among 103 submissions, the largest number of submissions from Nebraska architects to date.

Four college faculty selected as new Research Development Fellows
Lincoln, Neb.--Four faculty from the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts were among 25 faculty selected to serve as 2020-21 Research Development Fellows.
