Becker, Clinton present recital Nov. 9

Lincoln, Neb.--Glenn Korff School of Music professors Karen Becker, cello, and Mark Clinton, piano, will perform two of Ludwig van Beethoven’s sonatas for cello and piano at their faculty recital on Thursday, Nov. 9.

The concert is at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Music Building Rm. 119. The concert is free and open to the public. It will also be live webcast. Visit https://music.unl.edu/webcasts the day of the performance for the link.

Last year, Becker and Clinton performed three of the five sonatas. The two remaining sonatas to be performed at this concert Sonata in A Major, Op. 69 and Sonata in G minor, Op. 5 No. 2. 

Becker, professor of cello and area head for strings, is a passionate and dedicated soloist, chamber musician and teacher. She has served as principal cellist of both the Melkus Ensemble and the International String Orchestra in England, Norway and Switzerland and has appeared as a soloist and principal cellist with the Texas Cello Choir at the American String Teachers National Conference and the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic. Clinton, professor of piano, has taught in the Glenn Korff School of Music since 1995. Since entering the Preparatory Division of the Peabody Conservatory at age eight, Clinton has worked extensively with some of the world’s foremost pianists, among them Leon Fleisher, John Perry, Carlo Zecchi and Tatiana Nikolayeva. He has garnered prizes at such prestigious international competitions such as the 1987 William Kapell International Piano Compeititon and the 1991 Joanna Hodges Piano Competition.
