Lincoln, Neb.—The fourth Flyover new music concert will be held on Monday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Music Building Rm. 119.

The concert is free and open to the public. The concert will also be live webcast. Visit https://music.unl.edu/webcaststhe day of the performance for the link.

The Flyover New Music Series is the new music series presented by composition students in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music. The series is administered and overseen by composition faculty and students, including Greg Simon, assistant professor of composition.

The fourth concert of the 2021-2022 season is titled “String Theory.” This concert, in collaboration with Professor of Violin David Neely’s studio, will feature numerous new works written for the violin.

“Student composers on this concert were paired with violinists from Professor Neely’s studio, working collaboratively to create music for the violin in a variety of different instrumentations, including string quartets, violin duets, violins with electronics, a string octet, and a violin and marimba duet. The program will be rounded out with a piece written for solo flute,” said John Cope, a graduate teaching assistant in the music composition area. “We are excited to share our collaborative projects with our audience, both in-person in Westbrook Recital Hall, as well as online via our livestream.”
