McMullen presents faculty recital Nov. 12

Lincoln, Neb.--William McMullen, oboe, will present a faculty recital on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Music Building Rm. 119. 

The concert is free and open to the public. It will also be live webcast. Visit https://music.unl.edu/webcasts the day of the performance for the link.

McMullen will be joined by Catherine Herbener, piano; John Bailey, flute; and James Compton, bassoon.

The program includes Benjamin Britten’s Six Metamorphoses after Ovid, op. 49, 1952 for oboe solo; Reena Esmail’s Pranayam, 2021, for oboe and piano; Edmund Rubbra’s Sonata in C, op. 100, for oboe and piano; Alyssa Morris’ Brush Strokes for flute, oboe and bassoon; and Graham Reynolds’ The Modal Cycle for oboe, bassoon and piano.

McMullen is Professor of Oboe and the principal oboe with Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra. He is also oboist in the Moran Woodwind Quintet. He is a frequent recitalist throughout the United States with pianist Herbener.
