Performance Creative Spaces
With a brand-new music building and a newly renovated recital hall opening in 2025, the Glenn Korff School of Music continues to firmly establish Nebraska as a premier institution for music education and dance across the country.
Westbrook Music Building
The new Westbrook Music Building will set a new standard for music education. Set to open in the spring of 2025, the building will include:
- A state-of-the-art, 185-seat performance hall
- Cutting-edge, high-tech recording and production studios that utilize the latest in digital and analog resources
- Enhanced rehearsal spaces
- High-definition video conferencing and performance streaming capabilities
- New, optimized classrooms
The Westbrook Building’s new recording studio will redefine music production and education, incorporating cutting-edge audio and video technology, high-fidelity recording equipment, real-time mixing and mastering, and integration with virtual reality tools that will play a key role in supporting and executing the school’s new music technology and music production program.
Kimball Recital Hall
Alongside the new Westbrook Music Building, renovations to the Kimball Recital Hall will further enhance the school’s performance capabilities and quality. An elegant, spacious new lobby will give way to a fully modernized recital hall that includes:
- New seating
- Updated flooring
- Advanced audio and video capabilities
- New lighting systems
- An advanced hearing loop system
- Redesigned green rooms
These improvements offer Husker students an unmatched performance space in which to showcase their evolving talents.
Dance Facilities
Located in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, the dance studios opened in August 2019. Dance students enjoy 10,000 square feet of dance spaces that include two dance studios, showers, changing rooms, a laundry room, offices and spacious common areas to eat and study. Now located adjacent to downtown Lincoln, the dance program is able to present ongoing dance recitals on First Fridays.
