Academics
Here at the Glenn Korff School of Music, we have high standards and small classes. You’ll be part of a strong community of musicians and dancers, you'll have access to incredible faculty and guest artists, and you'll work with featured presenters on stage at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.
Our Programs
Music
The music major is available as a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). Both provide the opportunity to take applied lessons with highly acclaimed faculty artists and scholars, as well as build a strong foundation in music theory, history, keyboard skills and ensemble participation. You’ll prepare to perform, compose, run a performing arts venue or pursue graduate studies. An audition is required after being admitted to the university.
Music Education
Graduates of the music education program teach in schools throughout the United States. Prepare to be a director of a high school band, choir or orchestra, elementary general music teacher or instructor of guitar classes, computer music labs or popular music ensembles. Gain a breadth of learning opportunities that reinforce the rich traditions of school music and support continuing innovations in the music teaching profession.
An audition is required after being admitted to the university.
Dance
Through balanced and integrated curriculum, you'll learn the cultural, theatrical and performing aspects of dance. Develop working methods that are both safe and correct as you explore your personal artistry. An audition is required after being admitted to the university.
Beyond the Classroom
Our music and dance majors have opportunities to perform - in ensembles, with local companies and as part of competitions. Because of our Hixson-Lied Endowment, we are able to provide several unique opportunities outside of class, including conference attendance, domestic and international study opportunities, and travel for performances or conferences.
