Portfolio and Dissertation Deposit

Instructions for procedures after the Final Oral Examination, typing instructions, and deposit of the dissertation portfolio are available from the Office of Graduate Studies website under Academics:

https://graduate.unl.edu/academics/program-steps/doctoral-degree-steps-to-completion/

These details are also included in a set of final instructions that you will receive from the Doctoral Program Specialist in the Office of Graduate Studies.

The Supervisory Committee has the right to recommend changes in the abstract and the portfolio at the time of the final oral examination. Such changes, should they be requested, are made by the student in consultation with the Supervisory Committee and are incorporated in the final versions of the abstract for ProQuest and the portfolio documentation that will be deposited electronically in UNL's Digital Commons. Depending on the extent of suggested changes, the Supervisory Committee may empower the Supervisory Committee Chair with the authority to review changes prior to submission of the final portfolio. Due to the likelihood that changes will be made, the portfolio/dissertation should be kept in a format that allows changes to be made.

Notes to students:

In general terms, after you finalize the electronic version of your portfolio/dissertation, you will send it to the Doctoral Program Specialist for final approval. Once approved, you will upload it to ProQuest (and UNL's Digital Commons, if desired), following the instructions provided to you.

You do not need to create a bound copy of your portfolio/dissertation; bound copies are not a part of the depositing process and are not overseen by Graduate Studies.

Finally, students will submit an Abstract along with the signed Report of Completion as instructed by the Doctoral Programs Specialist.
