Lincoln, Neb.--The UNL Symphony Orchestra presents a concert on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
The UNL Symphony Orchestra is under the direction of Tyler White, Professor of Conducting and Composition and Director of Orchestras.
“The program opens with Richard Strauss’s massive and thrilling ‘Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare,’ White said.
Following that are the Prelude to “Hänsel und Gretel” by Engelbert Humperdinck (conducted by graduate associate conductor Manuel A. Monge-Mata); Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 100 in G major, “Military;” and Nebraska native Howard Hanson’s Symphony No. 2, “Romantic.”
“The Hanson work has often been referred to as the ‘Great American Symphony,’” White said. “This is a richly varied program, full of drama and memorable melody.”
