Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts is seeking applications for the 25th annual Nebraska Young Artist Awards. 

The awards recognize 11th-grade students from Nebraska who are talented in visual art, dance, music, theater, and film and emerging media arts. These students exemplify the pinnacles of creativity in one of the fine and performing arts.

Founded in 2008, the Trans-Nebraska Players include Glenn Korff School of Music Professor of Violin David Neely (violin) and Professor of Viola Clark Potter (viola), as well as Lecturer of Flute Franziska Brech and Associate Professor of Cello Noah Rogoff from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and James Margetts, Dean of Liberal Arts and professor of piano at Chadron State University.

UNL Opera presents Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute’

Lincoln, Neb.--The Glenn Korff School of Music’s opera program presents Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” Nov. 5 and 7.

Performances are Friday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets are $20 adults and $10 students/seniors and are available at the door or in advance through the Lied Center Box Office at (402) 472-4747. Pre-performance talks by Professor Emerita of Music History Pamela Starr will take place 45 minutes before curtain in the lobby of Kimball Recital Hall.

Search begins for fine and performing arts dean

Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has launched a national search to select its next dean of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. 

The recruitment advisory committee will be chaired by Shari Veil, Dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. Isaacson, Miller, a leading national executive search firm, will assist the committee with the search.
