Anderson to present faculty recital Oct. 6

Symphonic Band concert is Oct. 12

Jazz Singers, Jazz Orchestra to perform Oct. 5
Lincoln, Neb.--The UNL Jazz Singers and UNL Jazz Orchestra will perform Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
The Jazz Singers, under the direction of Dr. David von Kampen, is a small choir, open to all members of the University community by audition. Students are instructed in jazz style, ensemble singing, lyric delivery, solos, and improvisation. The ensemble performs arrangements of standard and contemporary jazz repertoire in collaboration with a rhythm section.

Biennial Faculty and Staff Exhibition opens Oct. 1
Lincoln, Neb.--The Biennial Faculty and Staff Exhibition will be on display Oct. 1-Nov. 5 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.
The exhibition features the work of faculty and staff in the School of Art, Art History & Design. An opening reception will be held on Friday, Oct. 1 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. A closing reception will be held on Friday, Nov. 5, also from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery.

Painter Valdivieso to present next Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist series lecture
Lincoln, Neb.—Painter Odalis Valdivieso will present the next Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15. Her lecture is free and open to the public.
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Valdivieso lives and works in Miami. She received a Masters of Fine Arts degree from Royal College of Art in London.

Nebraska Rep opens season with ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’
Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Repertory Theatre opens its 2021-2022 season with William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
Directed by Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film Director and Nebraska Repertory Theatre Executive Director Christina Kirk, performances are Sept. 29-Oct. 10 in the Temple Building. It opens the Rep season, whose theme this season is “Journey.”

Lefferts’ book ‘The Dorset Rotulus’ contextualizes the early English Motet
Lincoln, Neb.--Glenn Korff School of Music Professor of Music History Peter Lefferts’ new book, “The Dorset Rotulus: Contextualizing and Reconstructing the Early English Motet,” was published recently by Boydell Press in London.
The book was researched and written by Lefferts; Margaret Bent, an emeritus fellow of All Souls College in Oxford; and Jared C. Hartt, associate professor of music theory at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music.
