Reimer Seaman, Adams named Associate Directors in Korff School

Lincoln, Neb.--Glenn Korff School of Music Interim Director Tony Bushard has appointed Jamie Reimer Seaman as the new Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies and Mark Adams as the new Associate Director of Graduate Studies in the Glenn Korff School of Music. 

“Dr. Reimer Seaman and Dr. Adams are consummate professionals and leaders in their respective fields,” Bushard said. “I’m privileged to work closely with them, and I value their perspective and counsel. Their commitment to student success, interdisciplinary collaboration and their willingness to see the 'bigger picture’ are all vitally important as we work to align with College and University strategic priorities.”

Reimer Seaman is the Richard H. Larson Distinguished Professor of Music (Voice) and area head for voice. Her responsibilities have included teaching applied voice and courses in opera techniques. 

As a soprano, she has performed opera, oratorio and recital venues around the U.S., Italy, Germany, Brazil and Australia. With a particular interest in contemporary American art song, Reimer Seaman’s research focuses on the life and work of composer Robert Owens. She performed the role of Ursula in the North American premiere of his opera, “Culture! Culture!” in 2015. Her work has been published in the Journal of Singing and Pan Pipes, and she is a frequent lecturer through the U.S. and abroad for conferences of the National Opera Association, National Association of Teachers of Singing, the International Symposium for Performance Science, and the International Congress of Voice Teachers.

Adams is Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Education. He brought more than 10 years of public school teaching experience in 5^th-12^th grade instrumental music and 7^th-12^th grade vocal music.

His research has explored vernacular musicianship, informal teaching and learning, songwriting, and the nature of classroom community in creative classrooms. He has presented original research at several national conferences, including the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the Society for Music Teacher Education (SMTE). His writing has appeared in Music Educators Journal, The Oxford Handbook of Preservice Music Teacher Education in the United States, and the second edition of Engaging Musical Practices: A Sourcebook for Middle School General Music.
