Nebraska Repertory Theatre celebrates the season with 'The Holiday Cabaret'

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Nebraska’s Actors’ Equity Association professional regional theatre, presents “The Holiday Cabaret.” Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12-14 and Dec. 19-21 with 2:00 p.m. matinee performances on Sunday, Dec. 15 and Saturday, Dec. 21. Performances are in the Temple Building, 12th & R streets.

Hixson-Lied College seeks applications for Nebraska Young Artist Awards

Lincoln, Neb.—The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts is seeking applications for the 23rd annual Nebraska Young Artist Awards.

The Nebraska Young Artist Awards annually recognize 11th grade students from Nebraska who are gifted and talented in the areas of visual art, dance, music, theatre, and emerging media arts. These students exemplify the pinnacles of creativity in one of the fine and performing arts.

Theatrix presents 'Five Women Wearing the Same Dress'

Lincoln, Neb.--Theatrix, the student-run theatre company within the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, continues its 2019-2020 season with Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, written by Alan Ball and directed by University of Nebraska student, Hilda Esther Rey.

Performances are November 21-23 at 7:30 PM, and November 24 at 2:00 PM. All performances take place in the Lab Theatre in the Temple Building at 12th and R Streets.

Lincoln, Neb.--The Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film and the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents “Conversations with Mary Zimmerman” on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 3:30 p.m. at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center at 13th and R streets.

Zimmerman joins us for a presentation and Q&A about her work. The event is free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Carson Center dedication events begin Nov. 15

Lincoln, Neb.--Experts say the U.S. economy is being rapidly reshaped by emerging media technologies, with entire industries being “vaporized” and turned into software. This new economy is fundamentally changing the way companies go to market, influence their customers and engage their audiences. 

These changes demand a workforce that is both technologically adept and imaginative.

Nebraska Repertory Theatre presents 'The Glass Menagerie'

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska Repertory Theatre presents Tennessee Williams’ timeless memory play, “The Glass Menagerie,” directed by the Rep’s Artistic Director Andy Park.

Performances are Nov. 6-17 in the Temple Building at 12th and R streets. For tickets and showtimes, visit http://www.nebraskarep.org.

The play follows the fragile Wingfield family:  Tom, an aspiring poet; his painfully shy sister Laura; and their mother Amanda, a faded Southern belle.

Carson Center’s Fleming has work selected for Cedars-Sinai permanent collection

Lincoln, Neb.—Jesse Fleming, assistant professor of emerging media arts in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts at Nebraska, had his video work, titled “Jane the Baptist,” acquired by the permanent collection of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Theatrix opens season with 'Smokefall'

Lincoln, Neb.--Theatrix, the student-run theatre company within the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, begins its 2019-2020 season with Smokefall, written by Noah Haidle and directed by University of Nebraska student, Ethan Greenlee.

Performances are Oct. 17-19 at 7:30 p.m., and Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. All performances take place in the Lab Theatre in the Temple Building at 12th and R streets.

Filmmakers Jeffery, Petersen present next IGNITE lecture Sept. 20

Lincoln, Neb.--Independent filmmakers Alexander Jeffery and Paul Petersen will present at the next IGNITE colloquium on Friday, Sept. 20 at 12:30 p.m. in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts Rm. 101. The event is free and open to the public.

IGNITE is a weekly colloquium for all Carson Center students, which will involve guest lectures, workshops and seminars around creative and professional development. The Center is located at 1300 Q St.
