Lincoln, Neb.--Experience an evening of exploration and experimentation as students from the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film and Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts share their works-in-progress from their first semester at the Open-House Studios event on Friday, Dec. 13 from 5-8 p.m. in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, 1300 Q St.

The event is free and open to the public. Registration is requested at https://go.unl.edu/xyjs.

See the fruits of 14 intense weeks of ideation and prototyping, designing and speculating, role-playing and improvising, filmmaking, and storytelling.

Visitors will have the chance to see the work and meet the students from the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film and Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts as they share their works-in-progress.

“We are excited to give students with a wide range of experience and expertise the opportunity to learn and grow from seeing one another grappling with unique design challenges,” said Christina Kirk, director of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. “The concept of the ‘open studio’ gives those who step inside this world a window to the process. Creativity and innovation are a risk-taking adventure. These students are bravely venturing into the unknown to discover what’s possible.”

Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts Founding Director Megan Elliott said this will be the community’s first glimpse of the work being created in the Carson Center.

“I am thrilled for people to see the works in progress from our very first semester,” Elliott said. “There has been a lot of excitement surrounding the opening of the Carson Center, and people often ask me ‘What is emerging media arts?’ This Open Studios event will give the public a chance to come see the Center and see the kind of work being created by our extremely talented students.”
